NaPoWriMo: #17 Unremarkable You

You tell yourself how unremarkable you are – just an ordinary girl in a sea of many stuck in a crowd. And while there are people who tell you just how special you are – all the negativity of your thoughts just seems to scream so loud.

You’re beautiful is eclipsed by the shadow of your own doubts.

You’re wonderful is lost in your own voice that believes you not to be and it shouts.

So you silence the voices with music and art, two sure remedies to calm the internal storm of thoughts and fresh pain. And sink so deep into your escape that your sanity has been regained.

Unremarkable you – just made magic and performed alchemy…causing beauty to appear from thin air-  and created something from nothing in a hundred different ways, now something exists that wasn’t there and we so now that it’s the game the mind plays.

Unremarkable you – wrote to her heart’s content and didn’t stop there. She picked herself up from the floor and brought herself to a mirror to look at her reflection with care.

They say that people only think they are unattractive because they see their faces every day…but to a person that has never seen you, to think you are beautiful is something we shouldn’t push away.

Beauty doesn’t just rest in what the eyes can see but in what the heart can know and the ears can hear…we’re so caught up in what others tell us is beautiful that we simply cannot see and come to fear…

that we might actually be what they say we are… and to that I say, Be your own kind of beautiful and shine like the sun set amongst the stars.
